Field Trips!

Today was a bit of fun, I'll post more later as the internet connection has been uber slow. We started off the day with more modeling of molecule formation in interstellar clouds and then went to the botanical gardens, the historical museum of Iceland, a hot spring, the Blue Lagoon and then a "traditional" Icelandic dinner (which was akin to a Camelot meal with jousting only the Viking version). The food was definitely not as good as the previous night (there was rotten shark meat: bleck).

Our bus labeled "Scientific Meeting" so that we could distinguish it from the others.

Historic homes at the Historical Museum. In the church here, the women sit on the north side (the left) and the men on the south side. This was, we were told, because the cold wind came from the north and it would be warmed by the ladies bodies before it reached the men.

Crazy sheep with 4 horns. He was very happy with us as we feed him dandelions.

Baby sheep!

On the lawn of the Historical Museum they had several "traditional" children's toys, which included these stilts. They were just like the ones at Grandma's so I had some practice!

Hot Spring warning...not to be taken lightly (see next day)

Acid Hot Springs on a foggy day.

This one's for Jeff...filaments! Yay!

Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana at the Blue Lagoon

Ugh, rotten shark meat. Smelled so strongly of ammonia that I couldn't even get it close enough to my face to try it.
