the female mind

There's this new book out "The Female Mind" by Brizendine that looks at scientific evidence that the male and female mind think differently. Well, duh. But this is scientific. Its kind of interesting and while there are always exceptions, mostly fit with my experiences. In it she says " There are the ones for hot sex and there are the ones for safety, comfort, and child rearing. Women are constantly longing for both wrapped into one package, but sadly, science shows that this may be wishful thinking."

How much does that suck? Now I said that there are exceptions (like the save?) but isn't this depressing? True, but depressing.

comment from Will:

"I read about this book a few weeks back. I remember it because there was a large camp of women (many of them scientists) opposed to the book - they saw it as step backward in women's lib to suggest that men and women can't think alike. They took "The Female Mind" with the same tone as our favorite Harvard President, Larry Summers.

Aside from that, I wanted to ask: how exactly are men different? Don't they want the hot sex along with safety, comfort, and good mothers too? I think that most men I know do (though I realize that my friends are not a good representation of "average American man")."

On a totally different note, two of my favorite local bands, Ghetto Cowgirl and The Pistoleros are playing at Last Exit the day before my birthday (9/29) so you all should go and celebrate with me. I'll remind you when we get closer.
