buying local

So I'm torn about buying from local merchants. I would really prefer to buy from small independent stores, support local and try to avoid places like Borders and Amazon etc. But then I get my coffee from Starbucks when I could walk the extra 100 yards and get it from Roots instead or even better make it myself. I like buying books from Changing Hands because I can usually find used books for cheaper there, but new books are a good couple of dollars more than at Borders. And I really want to purchase the new Ozomatli and the Traveling Wilburies Collection, but at Zia they are $14 and $24 and I can get them from iTunes or even Costco for much less ($10 and $20. So in order to eat better I have to spend more to buy organic and in order to support local businesses I have to pay more as well...and its really not fair because I don't make very much and all those rich mf out there probably all get their books from Amazon!
